Arrival to Melaka

On May 1, 2024, Fu Ning arrived in Melaka for a week-long stay, to continue with the mission of following Admiral Zheng He’s voyages along the Maritime Silk Road. The arrival attracted many locals and visitors. Fu Ning’s mission was to celebrate Admiral Zheng He’s achievements, promote traditional Chinese maritime
culture, and foster cultural exchange with other countries.
During this welcome ceremony at Tanjung Bruas Port, Deputy State Executive Councillor for Tourism, Heritage, Arts, and Culture, Datul Zaidi Attan, highlighted that Melaka had a significant number of Chinese visitors last year, indicating a growing interest in the city. Senior State Executive Councillor Datuk Rais Yasin and Melaka Tourism Promotion Division General Manager Sa’ari Basiron were also present at the event.
Stopping at Melaka was a significant part of Fu Ning’s voyage because it’s retracing the same maritime journey that Admiral Zheng He undertook centuries ago, during which he also made a stop in Melaka as part of his extensive and historic voyages to create diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Throughout its stay in Melaka, visitors had the chance to view Fu Ning up close and take photos at the port. The boat’s presence offered an opportunity to delve into China’s maritime history and Admiral Zheng He’s voyages, as well as to explore the ongoing culutral impacts of the Maritime Silk Road. This visit provided a unique experience that highlighted the enduring connections between Asian countries.
